Horisont & The Dirty Streets Concert Review, Austin, TX, April 24, 2017

Last week a friend had posted an album by the Swedish band Horisont and I gave it a listen…several times.  There’s obviously a part of the wave of bands that are channeling the music from before they were born.  But these guys do it very well.  I was surprised to see that they had 4 albums out and been together for 10 years.  I had heard that they played Austin recently as well.  Dang.

I was still super tired from the weekend trip in Milwaukee but I had to see this show.  Luckily some good friends were there as well and that helped keep me awake.  Memphis rock band, The Dirty Streets, opened the show and there were no local openers.  They were pretty solid playing some bluesy rock and their bassist was really good.

After a quick set change, Horisont started up and played and played.  The set was just about an hour, maybe a tad longer and there were maybe 50-60 people there max.  It was an early show as well.  Regardless, this band was bad ass.  The show was a punch in the face from beginning to end.  If you into Thin Lizzy, Rocka Rolla, Kansas, YES, Wishbone Ash and even some 70s Scorpions, you’ll dig this band.

Definitely looking forward to seeing them again.

  1. Great band! I loved their last album “Odyssey” It was one of my faves from 2015, I have not heard their new one yet. Glad you got to see them, I’m a lil jelly.
