as implied by a drummer we auditioned last week. he certainly has some issues of his own to deal with…
wow, im really dissapointed i havent heard a word from ya, so i thought i would drop a line. i aint mad, im glad really, but i thought i would share my thoughts with you about it. i dropped a line to your bass player a week or so ago, from which he never responded. kinda fucking rude aint it? well, i didnt think it went that bad, but i understand i guess. i know your a good guitar player but im looking for something a lot more creative and original. i do think its riduculously selfish for sean to not respond to my letter at all, he is a terrible bass player, no creativity or chops to speak of. im insulted by his lack of response really. i wont take any shit from people who have no business playing music. i merely stated i had a good time jammin, he coulda said hey, me too or naw, you suck or whatever. his carpen tunnel that keeps him from drumming must also keep him from typing i guess. whatever, i don’t treat people this way. i don’t stand for being treated that way either.
we are all busy people, i took the time to drive all the way over and wait for some dude who cannot even say thanks… how typical… i have no time for bullshit or trust fund babies. you already know this about me.
i gave you a shot because you seemed like a real person. i know you are busy, i have no problem with that. i also know it doesnt take two seconds to send an email saying thanks for coming, i will get back with you as soon as i can or no, its not gonna work. if somehow yall feel your beyond me, i don’t get it. but i am too busy as well to tolerate this kind of bullshit.
thanks for nothing. and don’t bother… all your songs that i have heard sound the same anyway. i guess what im saying is if you were really any good, you wouldnt have any trouble finding players, i certainly don’t. you obviously settled for that bass player! this town is filled to the brim, with people who appreciate others and the efforts they put forth.
good luck with yours!
Barely. The Steelers’ o-line look terrible. The defense is still pretty good but that will only get you so far. You need points on the board (duh). Mendenhall is out. Simmons is out. Davenport and Russell are being re0signed to the team. I am glad they have a bye week after next weekend’s Jaguars game.
I wish someone would break Ray Lewis’ leg(s).
Today’s failed House vote on the bailout was stupid. No, I don’t think the gov’t should create more false debt to keep the economy from falling through the floor, but there are times when I think it may be the best thing to do…for the moment. provisions need to be set to have this fake money repaid by these institutions within 3 years. I don’t necessarily fault the banks for this, I blame the retarded American public who went out and got loans that they couldn’t afford after 3 or 5 years because they didn’t read the fine print. Yes, I know there were some lenders out there that likely did some unscrupulous things to make these loans but the ultimate responsibility lies on the consumer. When I signed my mortgage papers in 2000, the broker got rather upset with me because I sat there and read every damned line of every damned sheet I was signing. “Can you do this any faster, please?” she said. I stopped and said, “Do you want me to just rip this in half and go somewhere else?” Yeah, that’s right.
More important than the actual President and VP are the Representatives that you send to DC. Research your Reps. and find out how they voted. They are the ones making the decisions that affect you most, not the Pres and VP. They are typically just figureheads.
Watch Brewster’s Millions and vote none of the above 08!
I’m pretty excited to start Spanish classes next week. Five weeks, every Tuesday night for 3 hours. I hope I will not be too far in over my head, it’s been a long time since I have used my Spanish. We’ll see. I’ll of course keep you posted as if someone really cares. Will Amelia enroll in time? We’ll see. Her bitch ass better be there!
This past weekend? Not too shabby. Friday…what did I do? ummm…oh…I went downtown to hang out for a bit but it was pretty lame, even with all the people there. Mohawk had an RSVP only show and i tried talking my way in because a friend of mine wa sin there that I wanted to see. It was one of the rare occasions when I couldn’t BS my way in the door. I must be losing my touch! I ended up at the Chili Parlor for a little while. Saturday I went to a cookout just north of Dripping Springs that was put on by one of the guys I work with. Lots of German and Spanish cuisine. It was fun but I only last about 2 hours. I went back to the Chili Parlor (no shit, really) and hung out with Stewart, his daughter and her boyfriend. His daughter and her mother grew up a few miles from where I lived in my teen years and I knew some of her family. Small world. he boyfriend is super cool. he had a ’68 Bonneville that was badass and was telling me about the ’55 Chevy he has that needs some body work. I told him I’d help him out. I adore old cars. I ended up giving these 2 older broads from new Hampshire a ride back to their hotel at 51st/IH35 as their wait for a cab was going to be 2 hours. They were here for ACL. Right on, older broads! They were pretty cool actually and really knew music. Yesterday, as with most Sundays this time of year, was about football. I was lounging in my boxers all afternoon being a total sloth. It was awesome.
Tonight I’ll find somewhere to watch the Steelers game. I haven’t had cable TV since about 1994. Yes, I am that lame.
Not my favorite actor of all time but Cool Hand Luke is an incredible film.
No idea why I said “Spanish douchebags”. I meant the rest of it.
But I digress.
Thanks to Danile’s older brother Jon (Poo-Poo), I was introduced to the opening track from this album entitled “Angel of Death”. Of course we all thought it was cool because it had death in the title. But overall, this album is phenomenal and really showed another step into the metal direction that Lynott wanted to take.
I generally don’t give song by song reviews but I will for this album. It deserves it.
Angel Of Death – This is such a dark haunting tune with some really great lyrics. Phil was a great storyteller and this is one of his best. It’s sort of about Nostradamus I guess. I love some of the lines in this song like “I’ve seen Hitler’s storm troopers march right across the Maginot Line”. It’s a great song.
Renegade – The somber, sullen Thin Lizzy ballad. Again, great lyrics by Phil.
Great little double guitar harmonies in this one too. When I still had my Harley, the above lyrics were always in my head.
The Pressure Will Blow – Not one of my faves from this album but surely not a stinker. Great double guitar work. I do like Brian Downey’s drumming on this one a lot.
Leave This Town – I simply adore this tune. I really think Phil was singing about his drug and alcohol abuse in this one which he often did. This is played with an upbeat shuffle much like “Don’t Believe A Word”. It also rang true for me a bit when I was deciding to move out of Norfolk.
No One Told Him – This is an upbeat rocker with rather sad lyrics. “You didn’t didn’t tell him you didn’t want to see him again”. It’s basically about a guy who gets dumped pretty hard and just gets way down on his luck, gets kicked out of the bars and just becomes a hopeless wreck. Great song.
Fats – This is one of the only songs by Thin Lizzy that I never really cared for. Other than the fretless bass work on this, I just don’t like it and usually skip it when it comes on.
Mexican Blood – This song rules. Period. It’s basically the rock version of Marty Robbins’ “El Paso”. But it’s great. The passion in Phil’s voice always gets me. He was great at phrasing his lyrics.
It’s Getting Dangerous – Love this song. Some of the lyrics hit close to home as well. That’s one of the things about Phil’s writing; it always seemed to make sense to me.
This living on his own has turned his heart to stone and it’s all pain
