One step closer…Gov’t Motors (GM)

with one comment

I’m sick to my stomach.  The UAW wins again.  Why in the hell do they get any say in what happens to GM and Chrysler?  They caused the problem to begin with by pricing wages much higher than necessary which led to jobs going overseas and plants shutting down in the USA.  At least Ford saw it coming a little bit and I have nothing but respect for them.

They said, “No thanks” to the President’s bailout funds.  Good for them.

Today GM filed for bankruptcy protection.  The UAW was in support of it, of course.  To me it shows how much power their lobby has in American politics.

What was that Obama railed against during his campaign?  Lobbyists?  Nice work, POTUS.  Please, move us increasingly closer to some bastardized or thinly veiled version of facism, socialism and/or communism.   With the gov’t beginning to buy the auto industry, the banks and soon the media, we might as well be living in Germany in the late 30s.

I think I need to throw up now.

————————————————-

ADDENDUM: 6/3/09 – I do realize that the bailout money started with Bush and I wasn’t pleased about it then either.   So although I do detest that BHO continued on with this, it started with Bush.  Idiots.  Both of them.

Dawn of a new day?

So we have a new President, eh? I will say I am a bit intrigued by his promises, little of which will affect me unless he follows through on tax changes. Then I’ll get pissed. Leave my money alone.

I will give Obama a fair chance as I did Bush 41, Clinton and Bush 43. They all have failed in what my vision that this country should be about. I’m a little more Jeffersonian than most with some Ron Paul mixed in.

What worries me most about our new “CHANGE” President is that the guy preached “out with the old and in with the new” yet brought in a bunch of old Washington insiders to run his cabinet. Not so much change there. What’s more is that he is part of Chicago politics. Not much more needs to be said and his lack of work there has been well-documented…and well-overlooked by the mainstream media.

Yes, I’m glad Bush is gone. I liked the guy on a personal level as I think he was genuinely a “good guy”. But he got mislead on a few fronts. We all know that the President really doesn’t run shit. He’s merely the face of the country. That’s likely not going to change with Obama. He’ll do like they all do and take advice from others who have personal agendas, usually money oriented.

We’ll see what happens in the next 99 days.

The election that is. I’m neither for McCain nor Obama. There really isn’t much difference in the two. They both suck. Neither ever presented anything concrete in their views on how to handle things and both are slick politicians who are trying to sling this country further into a “gov’t knows best” society. I, for one, am not a fan of that ideaology.

Fuck ’em both.

predicted winner:

Obama (duh). I really don’t think it’ll even be a contest.

It’s no secret that I think McCain and Obama are just typical gears in the Socialist machine that this country is sliding towards ever so quickly. It pains me greatly.

Today’s failed House vote on the bailout was stupid. No, I don’t think the gov’t should create more false debt to keep the economy from falling through the floor, but there are times when I think it may be the best thing to do…for the moment. provisions need to be set to have this fake money repaid by these institutions within 3 years. I don’t necessarily fault the banks for this, I blame the retarded American public who went out and got loans that they couldn’t afford after 3 or 5 years because they didn’t read the fine print. Yes, I know there were some lenders out there that likely did some unscrupulous things to make these loans but the ultimate responsibility lies on the consumer. When I signed my mortgage papers in 2000, the broker got rather upset with me because I sat there and read every damned line of every damned sheet I was signing. “Can you do this any faster, please?” she said. I stopped and said, “Do you want me to just rip this in half and go somewhere else?” Yeah, that’s right.

More important than the actual President and VP are the Representatives that you send to DC. Research your Reps. and find out how they voted. They are the ones making the decisions that affect you most, not the Pres and VP. They are typically just figureheads.

Watch Brewster’s Millions and vote none of the above 08!

By the way, Nancy Pelosi is a douchebag; so is John Boehner.
