White Tiger – White Tiger (1986)
Here’s one that I used to have on vinyl. Some dude hooked me up with this when we were in high school. I loved Mark’s
playing on KISS’ Animalize. This album is pretty good overall for LA glam tainted hard rock. It featured Dave Donato on vocals who was in Black Sabbath for about 8 minutes.
The copy I have on CD was bought around 2000 directly from Mark, signed by him and included a White Tiger guitar pick.

Voodoocult – Jesus Killing Machine (1994)
So here’s an odd one from my collection. To be honest I never liked this album that much. The only reason I bought it
was because of who played on it…Dave Lombardo and Chuck Schuldiner (RIP). The music is pretty pedestrian thrash/death metal and even the drums are pretty boring. Some of Chuck’s solos are pretty good, but in general the album was boring.
That being said I kept this CD because I had both Dave and Chuck sign it on separate occasions. Both guys gave the exact same reaction…”This actually came out?” Chuck asked me to burn a copy for him and send it, which I of course did.
I was pretty sad when Chuck died. When we met him at Jaxx (Springfield, VA) on the Death/Hammerfall Tour, he came outside to meet everyone, soaking wet in a robe and flippy floppies and it was freezing outside. He was very cool. I met Dave at the same place when he was drumming for Testament on The Gathering Tour. Talk about a cool dude. I got to talk to him for a bit with his son. I handed him a stack of CD covers including the River’s Edge soundtrack. “We were on this?” I said, “Dude, it’s half the reason I wanted to see the movie in the first place!” Good times.
Tracks:
- Killer Patrol – 3:57
- Metallized Kids – 4:26
- Jesus Killing Machine – 4:32
- Born Bad and Sliced! – 3:58
- Albert is a Headbanger – 3:50
- Hellatio – 3:15
- Death Don’t Dance With Me – 4:08
- Art Groupie – 4:53
- Blood Surfer City – 5:03
- Voodoocult – 4:09
- Bitchery Bay – 5:32
Band:
- Phillip Boa – Vocals
- Chuck Schuldiner – Guitar
- Gabby Abularach – Guitar
- Waldemar Sorychta – Guitar
- Mille Petrozza – Guitar
- Dave Ball – Bass
- Dave Lombardo – Drums

Sanctuary – Into the Mirror Live/Black Reflections (1990)
I scored this CD around 1998 when i was starting to purge my record collection. I traded a Mercyful Fate Melissa 12″
picture disc for it to some dude in Canada. In 1999 I went to Richmond, VA to see Nevermore and did an interview with Warrell Dane. I asked him about this ep and he stated that about 1000 were made and only about 500 actually got released to record stores and radio stations as a promo. The others were destroyed when CBS dropped Sanctuary from their label. He did say, however, that he still had the master reels from this recording and wanted to put the whole show out officially. Obviously 11 years later I don’t think it’s going to happen. What a pity. This is a great recording although I wish White Rabbit would have been left out.
Tracks:
1. “Future Tense” – Studio Version
2. “Long Since Dark” – Live
3. “Battle Angels” – Live
4. “One More Murder” – Live
5. “White Rabbit” – Live
6. “Taste Revenge” – Live

Leviathan
So, it looks as if Leviathan (Colorado progressive metal band) is doing a reunion show in January 2010. Too bad they couldn’t have waited a few months else I would have made my way up there to see the show. But Colorado in the middle of the winter? No thanks. Hell, I am already too cold here in central Texas!
Back in 1997 I went to LA to visit with Century Media and metal Blade Records as I was buying most of my stock from them when I had Acacia Music online in the late 80s. It was a blast out there and the folks at both labels were absolutely incredible. One great experience was going to the “office” of Century Media. At that time they were still a small label in the USA. Their office was an old Victorian looking 2-story house with an 8′ privacy fence around it. Not very office-looking. But it kept their overhead low and it was perfect for their needs. My rep with CM, John Schultz (where are you, dude?) took me out to their warehouse in South Central LA (Hawthorne). I just walked through the rows of CDs and merch drooling. I brought back 200 CDs. Many for my personal collection but most of them to sell on the website and on eBay.
One of the bands I got a hold of on the trip was Leviathan. They had the first EP and their first 2 full-length CDs in stock so I grabbed one of each. At the time I was a little more into prog metal than I am now and this stuff surely satisfied my tastes in the genre.
My favorite of the 3 is Riddles, Questions, Poetry and Outrage. Such a fine album. All 3 of these are way out of print so I’ll post them for your downloading pleasure. Yes, I know they did a follow-up to the Riddles album, but I didn’t care for it.
Enjoy.

Bullet (Sweden)
Jason McMaster turned me on to these kids from Sweden a week or so ago and I just ordered the CD. If you’re into AC/DC, Krokus, Accept etc, this is the band for you.
