Angels in white, you have sacrificed…you witnessed and buried the pain

with 3 comments

God, this is one of the most beautiful metal songs ever written.

Guardian

These walls are stained, engraved with pain
You will find them under shadows casting shame
Some it’s all they’ve ever known
Angels of the fortunate sons come and go
You may not

Entities pass in the night
Guardians and the Reaper fight
The will to live shall win
Mares of hope ride through their dreams
Blinding light awakens sleeping dawn
It seems It was all a dream
An endless dream

I will wish upon a star
I believe in you
And if my will has strayed afar
I rememebered you
Will you remember me?
I’m the one you sentenced
Pennance unabsolved
Answer me
Save my will
Have you forgotten me?

Pace the hallway blindman
For a million miles of stars his mind has seen
Think you may, he lives in darkness
We’re the dark , he’s seen the light of dream

Karen, she’s been asleep forever
I know she hears me
She has so much to say
The machine thatsparks
Through her egg shell mind
The tear streams from her face
Into my hand, to my heart

I will wish upon a star
I believe in you
And if my will has strayed afar
I rememebered you
Will you remember me?
I’m the one you sentenced
Pennance unabsolved
Answer me, Save my will

I’m a fire without a flame
Helpless child without a name
With broken wings
Catch me, I’m falling
I’m a question with no answer
Who are you that takes my life away from me?
Unveil the boundaries of the black

I had a dream I was you
Strong as the fire in my veins
And when I called out your name
I would remain to witness the pain
I am beyond silent black
I will be back as your Guardian

Angels in white you have sacrificed
You witnessed and buried the pain
You walk hand and hand with the fear stricken child
Strengthen the weak and the lame
Have you seen beyond the unborn?
Pillar of pennance and lore
Perpetual journey into the realm
The Sovereign Servitor

I will wish upon a star
I believe in you
And if my will has strayed afar
I rememebered you
Will you remember me?
I’m the one you sentenced
Pennance unabsolved
Answer me, Save my will
Have you forgotten me?

Arsis – Starve For The Devil (2010) – Pre-Release Review

with one comment

As much as I hate to admit it, I illegally downloaded the new Arsis from a file sharing site today.  I really don’t like doing that but this is one time that I couldn’t control myself.  In my own defense (not that there is one), I pre-ordered both versions of the new one.  OK, I’m a thief.  Call Lars Ulrich!

Anyway…I am a fanboy of certain bands and Arsis is certainly one of them.  Sucks that I haven’t seen them play since like 2005 or 2006.  WTF?  I don’t need to go back into my history with the band, it slathered through this site.

But you’re here to read my review.  Let me start with welcoming back Mike Van Dyne on the drums.  Nice work, man.  We Are the Nightmare (WATN) was my #1 album of 2008 and this album is different, but not in a bad way.  The production isn’t quite as thick as the last album meaning that the drum production isn’t over the top like on the last one.  I didn’t mind it at all but I like how this sounds.  And it has Van Dyne written all over it.

Overall the songs don’t seem as over the top as WATN but it’s kicking my ass.  This is the album I expected.  The solos and riffs are all there.  I’m only through one and a half listens but this is great.

If you’ve liked any or all of the other Arsis albums, you will not be disappointed, I promise.
