Upcoming shows…
Lots of great shows coming to the area. So many that I have to pick and choose a little more carefully to be able to afford the ones that I really want to see.
Tomorrow night I am heading to San Antonio to see Loudness. Saw them back in 2006 and they were great. RIP Munetaka Higuchi.
Next Friday is Orange Goblin and Naam(!!!). I’m not a huge OG fan but I’ve never seen them. Naam, however, has become one of my favorite bands. This is part of the Chaos in Tejas music festival.
There’s also the M.O.D. reunion show in late June that I am fortunate enough to be a part of as Milano asked my Motorhead tribute band to open up.
I just bought tickets earlier this week to see Armored Saint and Hirax at the Key Club in Hollywood. Should be a fun show. I’ve never seen Armored Saint and saw Hirax for the first time 2 years ago. I’m really excited to see Saint.
Odin is doing a reunion show in August at The Whisky and I’ll be heading out there for that one as well. I love Odin. Always have. Do a search for them on this blog site, you’ll see my inner fanboy. haha
September sees Return To Forever coming back to Austin. I got to see the first of their reunion shows a few years ago and it was quite mind-numbing. Unfortunately Al Di Meola isn’t on the tour, but Frank Gambale is a competent enough player to handle the duties. We get Jean Luc-Ponty this time as well!
The weekend…
Pretty interesting weekend. One of my good friends is in town for a few weeks so I get to see him a lot. Nyk is a great guy and it had been about 3 years since we last hung out. He came to our show Friday night and took about 1000 photos…literally. He’s a maniac! The show was great. I was a bit worried when we went on because there was only about 15 people there. By the end of our 2nd song the place was packed. It was pretty nifty. The crowd was very into it and the guy who books there is already asking us to do a headlining show in the next month or so.
The night started out great as a friend kept showing me her breasts all night. I almost felt like a rock star! haha. She has a nice set by the way. Too bad you probably missed it.
Another friend of mine tried to rush the stage when we were in the middle of a song. I swatted him down once and he tried again so he got a face full of my boot. That’ll teach him to try and get on my stage. Like Lemmy said one time, if you want to get on stage, get your own fucking band. Amen brother.
Saturday Nyk and I moved some boxes into my new apartment. I’m pretty excited about it now. I hurt my ribs and back a bit though. I’m getting old. It sucks. Hopefully we’re moving the furniture this coming weekend and i will be in there for good. It’ll be cool and it’s in a great location and uber convenient to downtown.
Sunday I packed up my CDs and moved them to the new place. That is a task in and of itself. I also watched the Steelers game. What a stroke of pure luck.
Halloween in Austin
I have an all new lineup since moving to Texas:
Me – fat dude with a Rickenbacker
Doug Morrison – bad ass guitarist handling lead guitar duties
Jason McMaster – Broken Teeth, Dangerous Toys, Watchtower, Sad Wings…playing rhythm guitar and backing vocals
AJ – of Thunderosa on drums.

Yeah…
I’ve been really tired all this week and I don’t know why. Haven’t been partying hard, not stressed out (more than normal anyway) and I think my health is ok…so I don’t know what’s up. Whatever. Maybe just some extra sleep will help.
Finally, Capricorn USA is going to start rehearsing for our upcoming Halloween show. No, we haven’t started jamming yet! Luckily it’s a cover/tribute band and we all know the songs individually, just haven’t played them together. My biggest concern is getting my voice back in “shape” for it. It’ll be great fun as I am jamming with 3 of my favorite people here in Austin: Doug, Jason and AJ.
I need to find a place to live. Gotta be out of my current place by the end of the year. The few of you who have been there probably noticed an musty smell and may have even smelled it on my clothes. It’s not from me! I swear! There’s something in the carpet or the walls there that I just can’t get rid of and the landowner isn’t chomping at the bit to figure it out. He’s been a great landlord though. I may move over to the east side into one of those concrete box/loft/condos in the middle of the ‘hood. Prices are pretty good right now.
I’ve been listening to a lot of WASP lately. Their first 4 records are great.
